This town ain't big enough...

(Disclaimer: The internet makes it look less vibrant than it really is)
Hey everyone! End of the semester is here and that means I have time to bombard my blog with new stuff. This final painting for DFA was tons of fun, and I certainty learned a lot about color and mood. Plus westerns are tons of fun overall. I'd like to render out a bit more when I have some free time over break, but for now, this is the finished piece.

...And some progress
Yay, thumbnails

Gross, rough progress.

Fire hair and snow

This was my first time doing an environment heavy painting and although it was a challenge, it was also loads of fun. Also, I don't know how snow works, so that was interesting to research.

And below, some progress!

Dutch Red

Here's a portrait of my friend Anne (who is a kick-ass illustrator, by the way. I highly recommend clicking that linky link).

Alright, so here's the deal. I was trying to do another traditionally animated lip sync and I got ridiculously frustrated with it. So, I decided to not touch it at all today and instead paint something (which is something I hadn't been able to do since the summer!).

Plantains Make Everything Better

Just a quick still life painting. I tried to focus first on value and then on color, eliminating detail from my priority list. Overall, I had a lot of fun doing this quick piece; maybe it was because of the plantains.

I mean seriously, you should try them sometime. They are delicious.

Digital Still Lifes.

Remember when I noticed I didn't know how to properly paint digitally? It was cool. Well I've been practicing during break with simple still lifes, and here they are.

In other news, Happy Holidays! :D
